2020 Mid-Level Professional Title Assessment in Structural Design Profession Successfully Completed

Entrusted by the Talent Assessment Service Center of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, HuaDu Architecture and Urban Design Group (HDD) has been undertaking the assessment work for the mid-level professional title of the structural design profession over the years. The assessment is for professionals working in institutions directly under the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. On November 26th, the evaluation for year 2020 was carried out as scheduled.

Registration

In 2020, 201 employees of institutions directly under the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development have applied for the mid-level professional title of the structural design profession. From late June to the end of August, the evaluation team has been reviewing applications online, among which 164 have passed the first round of assessment. After expert review, the candidates selected for the final interview was 64. On the morning of Nov. 26th, the team conducted the assessment through group interviews.

Under the pandemic this year, a pandemic special unit was set up to prevent infection during this assessment.Before the formal evaluation, all candidates filled in the "Health Information Form for Pandemic Prevention in The Mid-Level Professional Title Review" as required by the special unit. The unit screened the collected information by each candidate to exclude participants who have visited high-risk areas.

On the day of the assessment, all interviewing experts, candidates, and staffs are required to wear masks throughout the process. All candidates are required to arrive at the location at their designated time to avoid gatherings. They have each been issued a green pass after their temperature and health codes are checked. With their green passes, candidates headed to the waiting room for the interview. The seats in the waiting room are placed with a distance of one meter to avoid potential infection risks.

In the afternoon, the team held an expert review meeting chaired by the team leader. Based on the preliminary application review and the candidates’ interview performance, the experts went over the 164 applicants that passed the first round by summarizing their professional years, work experience, work performance, and publications. Questions and disagreements were thoroughly discussed. Under the principles of fairness, impartiality, and merit selection, the team made in-depth reviews on the applicants’ capabilities and performance, and made their final votes.

After the meeting, the team summarized the assessment work and looked forward to the associated future work in the structural design profession.
