HDD Attends the Second Meeting of the First (Directors’) Board Conference of SEDTA

On the afternoon of December 16, 2020, the second meeting of the first (Directors’) Board Conference of Shanghai Exploration & Design Trade Association (SEDTA) Architectural Design Council (hereinafter referred to as the council) was held at the BAC Zhuyuan Artistic Center, No. 407 Pudian Road. SEDTA’s president Zhang Hua, deputy secretary-general Liu Min, chief supervisor Ge Fengqing, and various deputy council chairmen, as well as nearly 100 members of the board of directors attended the meeting.

As an opening, Gao Wenyan, secretary of the council, summarized the most important work of 2020, and announced plans for 2021. The council’s accomplishment over the past year includes organizing a review meeting for award-winning designs in 2019, carrying out the selection of architectural projects for the Shanghai Exploration and Design Excellence 2020, and other academic activities in contribution to fighting the epidemic.

In the awarding session, Shanghai HuaDu Architecture and Urban Design Group (HDD) received an award as one of the 2020 Shanghai Exploration and Design Excellence winners. The newly-built No.2 Teaching Building of High School Affiliated to Fudan University was awarded "Second Class Prize of Shanghai Building and Engineering Design Excellence 2020" by SEDTA. HDD will stay motivated and focused to increase the team’s professionalism and creative capacity upon past experience, and enhance its sense of social responsibility.

In addition, HDD was commended by the council for its contribution in fighting the pandemic. In respond to SEDTA’s call to resume work and production as well as help out the outbreak regions, Dr. Yu Qi, HDD’s deputy general manager and deputy chief architect, conducted a series of research on post-pandemic residential building design, and published in the form of papers. The papers, titled "Residential Entrance Gates Design in the Post-Pandemic Era", " Post-Pandemic Public Space Design in Residential Area", and "WELL, a Concept and Standard for Healthy Architecture" were named and praised by the council for proposing valuable strategies to improve the post-epidemic living environment.

At the end of the meeting, SEDTA president Zhang Hua placed high hopes on the future work of the council. Through visiting and reviewing award-winning projects, he hopes that the publicity of these projects will increase, the academic exchange and resource sharing between member firms will enhance, and that the influence of Shanghai architectural firms and projects within the industry will strengthen.
