Feidong Government Affairs Service Center

The project is located on the edge of Hemu Lake in the Eastern New Town of Feidong County, Hefei City, approx. 100 meters south of the intersection of Shenxiu Road and Dexin Road. Its location is superior being in the core public area and landscape area of the Eastern New Town.

The building has four floors above ground and one floor underground. Its main programs include green channel service offices, comprehensive government service offices, certification offices, agency support offices, public affairs support offices, public resource transaction offices and other government service offices. With design principles that highlight urban coherence, ecology, and hybrid functions, the design aims to create an open and efficient office hall to provide convenient, one-stop public services. The general layout follows the north-south green axis from the city’s masterplan, upon which an east-west urban public axis is added. In terms of functional layout, multiple major service departments are combined for efficiency. The circulation is clear with public, office and service circulations separated. The building massing is conceived through transforming the typical layout of traditional buildings in the Jiangnan region – "water from four directions returning to the hall". Courtyard, horse-head wall, and other architectural elements in the Hui-style architecture are also interpreted in a modern design language to strengthen the design’s regional character, and to create an interactive urban interface.
