A resident might hold various ideas about what makes an ideal living space. These ideas are influenced by the culture the resident was raised in, as well as the tradition and social norms of the specific place. For residential projects, the key philosophy held by HDD has always been starting from and striving for the human and cultural needs of the residents.

The recent two residential projects from HDD, The Pudong New District F05-02 Residential Building and The No. 6 Residential Building at Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone demonstrate that philosophy as to make living space distinguished among the very many mediocre ones in the market. The two projects have just won two important awards: the Excellence Award granted by the National Architecture Institute of China, a nationwide association approved by Ministry of Construction and State Ethnic Affairs Commission; and the second place at the relocation housing design competition held by the city government.

The project in Pudong focused on the integration of human needs, surrounding architecture and environment to improve the living quality of residents, as well as creating a community bond. The project in Zhengzhou made the local landscape and culture its major standpoint.
