In order to increase designers’ design capacity and promote professionalism, so as to enhance the firm’s competitiveness, the Chief Engineer Office of Shanghai HuaDu Architecture and Urban Design Group (HDD) has set up the "HDD Lecture Series". Since 2017, the "HDD Lecture Series" has held about 20 events. In these lectures, HDD’s chief architects, chief engineers, department managers, and external experts share their knowledge with HDD designers as keynote speakers. In addition, young designers are also invited to share their skills and techniques for using software in design works. Therefore, the lectures have created a platform for knowledge sharing that broadens the horizons and skill sets of all HDD employees. It guides and increases their enthusiasm to work and learn.

Meanwhile, to keep up with the company's global strategy and overseas expansion, HDD makes great effort to create an English-learning environment for employees. The Mixer Event is an academic activity in English where overseas researchers in the field of architecture, urban planning, civil engineering and other majors share and discuss with HDD designers the most cutting-edge urban practices and theories.

The English Corner is another activity for HDD employees. With topics chose by themselves, HDD workers enjoy cheerful gaming and delightful communication in English.

In the future, more diversified academic activities will be organized to increase HDD employees’ innovative capacity and broaden their skill set. HDD believes that the employees’ personal development that involves intense thinking, learning and practicing, will be the firm's best growth engine.
